Glenn Carter, Ingenious Design, Eastbourne
Breakfast Event Presentations – Sustainable Business Breakfast, Littlehampton
Businesses headed to Littlehampton to find out more about LED lighting and hear from a local business case study as well as meet like-minded organisations interested in energy efficiency.
Bryan Van Namen from Hove based Light Foot LED introduced the latest advancements in LED lighting, including new lamp types, colours and effects. He also explained how upgrading to LED lighting could save up to 80% on energy and maintenance costs. As a result LEDs can present a quick-win energy saving opportunity for many organisations. Bryan also brought along a selection of LED lamps which he plugged in and displayed.
Diana Beale of Canute Cottages on Cobnor Estate, joined us to talk about the energy efficiency initiatives in place at their holiday cottages including solar PV, solar thermal and upgrading inefficient boilers. As a result energy usage at the cottages has been reduced by 30%. Diana is also very keen on encouraging and preserving biodiversity on their peninsular and wetlands.
The Sustainable Business Network is delivering the events programme of the Green Growth Platform, a 5 year programme led by the University of Brighton offering a range of free and subsidised services to both businesses in the environmental sector and those looking to improve their environmental performance.
