Display Energy Certificates & Advisory Reports
A Display Energy Certificate (DEC) provides a visual representation of how energy is used in your building. It compares your organisation’s energy usage to that of a ‘typical’ organisation of the same business activity, using premises floor area as a standard variable.
Compulsory for public authority buildings with a floor area over 250 m2 (such as many libraries, schools and council offices) a DEC can also offer a range of benefits to businesses.
A DEC provides:
- A quantified, third-party assessment of energy usage
- A benchmark for target setting and improvement
- A tool for engaging employees and gaining management buy-in
- A demonstration of your environmental commitment to customers.
A DEC can only be produced by a qualified and registered Energy Assessor. Your first DEC will require a site visit and an analysis of your premises’ annual energy consumption. Renewing a DEC requires annual energy data, but not a site visit.
A DEC is typically accompanied by an Advisory Report, which highlights energy and cost saving opportunities at your premises. Public sector organisations which require a DEC must ensure their Advisory Report is updated at least every seven years.
Options
We can offer the following options for both public and private sector organisations. Please note, prices are subject to location, size of premises and availability of floor plans and energy data. Please contact us to discuss pricing for projects requiring multiple certificates or site audits, where a discount may be available.
Display Energy Certificate with Advisory Report – from £385 + VAT
Site visit and energy usage analysis to produce a DEC and Advisory Report with recommendations for energy efficiency improvements.
Display Energy Certificate renewal – from £195 + VAT
Public sector buildings requiring a DEC must renew their certificate annually (or every ten years for buildings with a floor area less than 500 m2). Renewal for businesses is optional, but can be a great way to demonstrate energy efficiency improvements. If we’ve visited site before the DEC renewal can be completed remotely.
