Utilise Plus Case Study: Parkview Care Home

Parkview Care Home in Hove benefitted from a grant of £3,000 for their boiler replacement project, which was issued through our Utilise Plus programme. At the Sustainable Business Partnership CIC, we offer a variety of services through Utilise Plus to support small and medium sized enterprises that want to reduce their energy bills and greenhouse gas emissions, saving them money in the process.

Romi Pinsent, Director of the care home, identified that their old boiler was inefficient, costly to run, and simply couldn’t cope with the demands of the home. The operating costs were over £4,000 annually and Romi was also wary of ever-increasing gas prices.

Parkview replaced the aging system with highly efficient condensing boilers and an endotherm inhibitor to increase the efficiency further. Romi commented that “the Utilise Plus grant has enabled us to install boilers that would otherwise be outside of our annual budget.”

This project is predicted to save Parkview Care Home just over £2,000 each year, by increasing boiler efficiency by 50% and decreasing their annual electricity usage by 55,000 kWh.

Romi added that “the grant process was easy to work through and the team from the Sustainable Business Partnership CIC were always on-hand to help….I would not hesitate to recommend this grant.”
