Local Businesses Meet Willmott Dixon to Find Out About Supply Chain Opportunities in Sussex
Keen to grow their supply chain in Sussex, Willmott Dixon, one of the UK’s largest property services and construction companies, met with local businesses in Hove, to explain what they look for in a supplier and find out about the range of skills and trades on offer in the area.
The well-attended event was organised by the Sustainable Business Network, on behalf of Willmott Dixon and the University of Brighton’s Green Growth Platform and ERDF part-funded Build Green business support programmes.
Growing a local supply chain
Delegates heard about Willmott Dixon’s current projects in and around the city, such as the refurbishment of the University of Brighton’s Cockcroft Building, as well as how they are incorporating sustainability into their operations, with the activities of and materials used by their supply chain a major area of focus.
Despite an annual turnover greater than £1 billion, the company works with businesses of all sizes, from one-man bands to larger multi-skilled firms.
To simplify their procurement processes, they use an on-line pre-qualification system, to which contractors can upload their details to be available ready for when new projects arise across Willmott Dixon’s different teams.
