Raising Green Investment – Brighton
Specialist seminars focusing on procurement, tendering and finance are being held as part of the Green Growth Platform. The first seminar looked at the different options available to businesses who are looking to raise investment to develop new environmental products or services.
Led by Craig Copeland from consultancy Carbon Minded, delegates explored a range of ways to raise investment from traditional loan funding to crowdfunding and venture capitalists.
The internet has increased access to a range of investors for businesses and has opened up new channels to raise or provide finance, one example is crowdfunding. Crowdfunding is the practice of funding a project by raising money from a large number of investors, through platforms such as Funding Circle, Kickstarter and Indiegogo.
Crowdfunding may provide a more competitive rate than the bank, however past performance and credit worthiness still factor into investor’s decisions. Investors may not always be looking for an immediate monetary return, but may be looking to fund worthwhile projects.
Details of more specialist seminars including a repeat of the Raising Green Investment seminar will be announced soon.
