Green Growth Platform Launches in Crawley
The Green Growth Platform, a £3 million initiative by the University of Brighton to boost green economic growth, was launched at an exciting business focused event at the Arora Hotel in Crawley on the 18th June. The Green Growth Platform is a five-year project funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England’s Catalyst Fund and aims to create a local low-carbon economy by driving growth in the environmental sectors across Sussex as well as helping organisations from all industries improve resource efficiency.
The Sustainable Business Partnership is pleased to be working in partnership with the University of Brighton to deliver the Green Growth Platform events programme.
Over 120 businesses and organisations from across the region attended the launch to hear about the range of free and subsidised services the Green Growth Platform will offer.
Following speeches from Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Julian Crampton and climate change expert Professor David Nash, delegates heard from case study speakers from Enviroblinds, who worked with the university to develop an energy saving product, and the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew’s Millennium Seed Bank who have implemented a range of energy, waste and water saving measures. The services offered by the Green Growth Platform include one-to-one business coaching, support for innovation and research-and-development, product and service development, tailored training and workshops, internships and graduate recruitment, funding support and networking events.
Businesses operating in Sussex in environmental sectors, or those wishing to reduce their environmental impact, are invited to join by visiting www.greengrowthplatform.co.uk.
