“Because we have been working on environmental issues for some time I was surprised at how much useful practical information was new to me which I can now apply within my organization.”

Utilise Plus Case Study: Fortune Cookie Company

The Utilise Plus programme is bringing good fortune to all! In May 2018, Fortune Cookie Company – based in Crawley – received a Utilise Plus grant of £2,600 for their LED lighting project. Funded by the European Regional Development Fund, Utilise Plus supports small and medium sized enterprises that are keen to reduce their energy bills as well as their impact on the environment.

Fortune Cookie’s General Manager, Justin King, decided to remove the high-energy lighting throughout the factory and install efficient, cost-effective LED lighting. The new LEDs will not only improve working conditions in the factory but will also reduce their overall running costs.

This project is predicted to save the Fortune Cookie Company around £1,368 per year, by decreasing their annual electricity usage by over 11,000 kWh.

The Fortune Cookie Company is one of many organisations to have benefitted from Utilise Plus grant funding, making them more resilient to future energy price rises and reducing their Greenhouse Gas emissions.
