Boosting Economy, Reducing Energy

New research published by the UK Energy Research Centre and the Centre on Innovation and Energy Demand has outlined that domestic energy efficiency improvements could reduce the UK’s overall annual energy usage by 25%. It’s estimated that this would deliver a net benefit of £7.5 billion to the economy. Including further benefits – such as improving health and stimulating a low-carbon economy – the total economic impact could reach an incredible £47 billion, as well as making energy savings equivalent to the output of six Hinkley Point C nuclear power stations. Read the full report here.

Members Spotlight

Based in West Sussex, the Raw Chocolate Company incorporate a plethora of energy efficiency measures into their day-to-day operations, making their delicious treats taste that little bit sweeter! All their sites use 100% renewable electricity, their staff are encouraged to work from home to decrease travel, and they supply unpackaged, bulk items to stores to minimise the use of plastic and cardboard. Linus Gorpe, the company’s founder, is keen to improve further, by “looking into biodegradable pouches” to replace their packaging. Find out more on their website.

LoCASE Success Story
